Story of THRUCK
THruck is a long-distance rideshare solution using the empty seat on commercial trucks.
My name is Changwoo Shin, I am the founder of THruck. As a foreigner, I was amazed by the United States highway system, especially commercial trucks. Trucking logistics is the bloodstream of United States economic development.
Truckers leave their families and homes for extended periods of time to ensure the products we need are available. Often, we forget the passion and braveness they must maintain for their work. I learned Americans hold uncomfortable stereotypes about truckers. This was extremely disappointing to me. After meeting truckers, I believe they deserve more respect and a reinvigorated image.
I am convinced that THruck will build a better society and future for Truckers and their families.
Changwoo and Tyler Kim met while earning their MBAs at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. Changwoo introduced the long-distance rideshare concept using commercial trucks at the university's 3 Day Startup where they met Jennifer Rangubphai. In April 2019 THruck was named 3rd place winner of the 13th Annual iChallenge on the Hilltop by St. Edward's University Munday School of Business.
